Mini sessions are short, fun and designed to capture a variety of images in a small amount of time. This guide will help you feel prepared and know what to expect.

Location & timing

Mini sessions are booked back-to-back, so it is very important to arrive early. If you are running late, your session may be shortened or even forfeited to keep things on schedule, and I cannot guarantee you will get all the shots you hoped for.

  • Give yourself enough time before your scheduled time to allow for parking and getting everyone prepped.

what to wear

  • Neutral and earthy tones with a pop of color and/or patterns always photographs beautifully.
  • Mix in textures and layers like knits, flannels and denims for visual interest.
  • Avoid large logos and bright busy patterns.
  • Coordinate colors rather than matching.
  • Please make sure the littles are dressed appropriately for the weather. If it is cold outside, please dress them warmly. I can help with choosing the right fits!

prepping the littles

Mini sessions move quickly, so a little prep goes a long way!
  • Make sure everyone is fed and well rested before the session.
  • Bring a small, mess-free snack or favorite toy for encouragement.
  • Keep the energy light. Your kids don't need to pose perfectly. It's all about the connection. 
  • Sessions are suppose to be stress-free, so please let your kiddos be kids.

Bringing pets

REACH OUT TO SEE IF DOGS ARE ALLOWED AT THE SESSION LOCATION

 

  • If your dog is anxious or untrained, it might take up a lot of your short session time. Only bring them if you are confident they will cooperate quickly and it won't interfere with getting the photos you want. (15 minutes goes by fast!)
  • I recommend starting with a few photos including your dog, then have someone available to hold them for the rest of the session.
  • Bring a leash and treats to help keep them focused.

 

FAQ

What if my child needs extra time to warm up?

Mini sessions move quickly, so arriving prepared and on time is important. If your child may need more time and breaks, or is shy around new people, a full session may be the better fit.

When will we receive our photos?

Mini session galleries will be delivered within 2 weeks.

How many photos will we receive?

A minimum of 20 images, however I do deliver all the best shots taken during the session.

What happens if it rains?

If your session is outdoors, there will be a rain date scheduled. You must be available for both dates. Deposits are not refundable if you can not make the rain date.

Are deposits transferable?

If something comes up and you can not make your mini session, I am happy to use your deposit towards another mini session or full session. Must be booked within 6 months.
